The Yates Mill in Raleigh, NC is a historic landmark that has stood the test of time, having been built in the 18th century and still in use until the mid-20th century. It is the centerpiece of Historic Yates Mill County Park. The mill was instrumental in shaping the community of Raleigh and its surrounding areas providing significant commerce grinding wheat and corn.

My goal was to accurately capture the Mill and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, such as the serene gentle fall of the water cascading to the pooled collection points near the mill’s wheel.   I could imagine the hardworking people who operated the mill and the impact it had on their lives.

To many the Mill is still thriving today, even locals visit the mill occasionally to rekindle their admiration for this stunning offering.  Help keep the Mill alive and visit if you can!
