The Story
Stone Mountain Falls - North Carolina, USA, is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are part of the larger Appalachian Mountain range.
My uneventful drive to capture the beauty of Stone Mountain Falls through my camera was relaxing. Each trip is met with curiosity and anticipation, it never gets old.
The trail was wide and well maintained, interestingly it was very quiet apart from the wind. There are a series of stairs that take you down to the base of the falls, during the descent I couldn’t help but think about the return, it would be tough.
Finally, the falls came into view, a magnificent sight to behold. The water cascaded down the rock cliff in a powerful display, its distinct roar echoing through my senses. Sunlight filtered through the canopy above, casting dappled shadows on the moss-covered rocks below.
With a sense of awe, I carefully selected various vantage points, seeking to capture the falls in all their splendor. I adjusted my camera settings, striving to convey the grandeur and power of nature in every frame. I found myself wading in collection pools striving to capture the essence of the falls from every perspective. I had to wipe the front of my lens occasionally as the mist distorted my view, however the cool mist felt wonderful and enhanced the experience. I love this!
Awesomeness! I enjoyed my time with the falls and was correct about the tough return to the trail head. The stairs kick my butt and carrying 30 lbs. of gear don’t help!
